Welcome to Mangawhai Golf Club

From the beginning in 1979 when Mangawhai Golf Club was first established, the club has built a proud reputation throughout New Zealand’s golfing community and also beyond our shores, for the friendliness and warm welcome extended to guests, regardless of whether the purpose of their visit is for a round of golf or for a social occasion in the clubhouse.

Over the years since its inception Mangawhai Golf Club has regularly hosted golf groups from throughout the country, as well as groups from offshore, so our staff and members are well versed in looking after the wants and wishes of the travelling golfer.

The Club is well recognised for the character, layout and design of its magnificent coastal golf course. Over the years some famous names from around the world of golf have graced our fairways and greens, more recently we hosted New Zealand’s own Sir Bob Charles. Sir Bob attended Mangawhai Golf Club’s 40th anniversary celebration dinner in 2019 after enjoying a round of golf as the Club’s guest of honour.

Inside Mangawhai Golf Club’s clubhouse a welcoming atmosphere awaits golfers and visitors, where the Member’s Lounge provides a breathtaking panoramic view overlooking our fine coastal golf course.

Mangawhai Golf Club is home to its scenic 18-hole championship golf course, consistently ranked among New Zealand’s top 25 courses. Being a sand-based coastal course it is always playable, offering challenge and reward for golfers of every ability. Well groomed fairways and immaculate greens are a hallmark of the course, with greens that are quick and true. The course is set amidst native flora and follows the naturally gentle undulations of the landscape, acknowledged as ideal golf terrain by leading golf course architects.

There are not many courses in New Zealand that can match the total Mangawhai Golf Club package of great golf, good value and a friendly welcome.

Harry Dale 1904~1995 - Course Architect

The Mangawhai course was designed by highly regarded New Zealand course designer Harold Percy Dale in 1979. An accomplished golfer Harry Dale was the winner of numerous New Zealand golf titles in his time. Mangawhai’s par five twelfth hole was named ‘Harry’s Dale’ after him. During an incredible career Harry Dale was the designer of more than sixty courses throughout the North Island, the Mangawhai course was the last course that Harry Dale designed.
